Angela Laurier spent over thirty years working as an artist and circus contortionist for various theater, dance and circus companies around the world. She is a radical and independent artist that has been part of the first creation of Cirque Du Soleil; collaborated with, among others, Robert Lepage, François Ferret, Jean-Frederic Messier, David Black. In 2006, she founded her own company motivated by the desire to base her work on personal themes. Her upcoming new production recounts her life as an artist. A mix of music, dance, acrobatics and stand-up comedy that operates at 360 degree. In 2013, Angela Laurier was awarded with the S.A.C.D. in the category of Circus Arts.
Suzanne Osten is an award winning director and writer of theatre and film. She has initiated Sweden’s first independent theatre company in the 60’s. She has been a pioneering artistic director of Unga Klara since 1975 and has transformed the nature and status of children’s theatre in Sweden and internationally. She has highlighted the status of women in Swedish contemporary society through theatre and film. Her work often treats challenging topics such as anorexia, Down’s syndrome and divorce. She is also a writer of several books and screenplays. Furthermore, she lectures and conducts workshops worldwide. Professor in directing, Dramatic Institute, Stockholm 1996-2009, Swedish Research council, member of the Group for Artistic Research, 2001-2007, Honorary doctor, Lund University, 2002.
The Questions of Gender in Circus
Camilla Damkjaer is a researcher in the field of dance and circus. In her Ph.D. thesis The Aesthetics of Movement –Variations on Gilles Deleuze and Merce Cunningham (2005) she addressed the meeting point between dance and philosophy with an interpretation of Gilles Deleuze’s philosophy and the choreography of Merce Cunningham. In her work she is crossing theory and practice, physicality and philosophy in order to challenge the assumptions of what dance and circus is and the kinds of knowledge they can produce. In one of her most recent project “Homemade Academic Circus” she is confronting academic and artistic research, through her own experience of passing from theory into circus practices.
Rights at Risk
Helene Hermansson is a researcher at the Division of Philosophy at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. She received her PhD in Philosophy in December 2007. Her main research interest is within applied ethics, philosophy of risk and feminist philosophy.
The subject of her thesis is Rights at Risk: Ethical Issues in Risk Management is ethical aspects of decision-making concerning social risks
Feminist Thinking in Architecture
Dr Hélène Frichot is an assistant professor in Critical Studies in Architecture, School of Architecture and the Built Environment, KTH, Stockholm. Her research examines the transdisciplinary field between architecture and philosophy (while her first discipline is architecture, she holds a PhD in philosophy from the University of Sydney, 2004). Hélène draws predominantly on the philosophical work of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, alongside other poststructuralist as well as feminist thinkers, such as Hélène Cixous, Luce Irigaray, Michèle le Doeuff, and the legacy of these thinkers, as witnessed in the work of philosophers such as the Australian Elizabeth Grosz, and also the philosopher of science Isabelle Stengers. Her published research has ranged widely from commentary on the ethico-aesthetics of contemporary digital architecture operating within the new biotechnological paradigm, to the role of contemporary participatory and relational practices in the arts, including critical and creative spatial practices. She considers architecture writing to be her mode of research practice.

Marie-Andrée Robitaille is an artist and researcher in the field of circus. She is the head of artistic studies at the Bachelor of art in circus at University of Dance and circus in Sweden. She conducts a research on feminist strategies in circus composition. She is the artistic director of Gynoïdes Project, an artistic operation that deal with the re-presentation of women in circus and re-visit the way we look at women in circus.

Settings – Norm Creative Opportunities
Settings works for organizations, institutions, associations, artistic practitioners and educational bodies which want to develop the conditions for socially sustainable change. Within Settings we have coined the phrase norm creativity. With a basis within norm critic, norm creativity focuses on action and translates norm critical theory to creative practice. Our working methods are based on research and experience of how we manifest ourselves in relation to other people – and in particular how we present ourselves based on factors such as gender, sexuality and ethnicity. Settings challenge these rigid roles to claim power over our own bodies and to create new spaces and identities.
Settings create methods and lead norm creative processes in tailor-made constellations with, among others, the Swedish Women´s Lobby, Norrland opera, the Royal Academy of Music, Riksteatern, the City of Helsingborg and University College of Arts, Crafts and Design.
Settings is founded and run by Lina Zavalia and Rebecca Vinthagen.

Gynoïdes project is an artistic operation that deals with the questions of women in circus.
Gynoïdes Project interacts with educational and research institutions, with organizations and members of the circus community, with contributors from scientific, social and other artistic fields.
Gynoïdes Project is an evolving participating initiative that uses dialogues, art projects and artistic researches to analyze the question of women in circus art, how it can be understood and transform.
